There are many nice places to visit on our planet, and many of them leave you with a “been there….done that” feeling. But Jaco is different. Visitors return again and again. Many buy a vacation home here, and lots of people retire here. So, what’s the attraction?
I’ve met numerous Ticos who have moved to the states….only to return to Costa Rica to live. The human energy factor is spectacular here. Their attitude is: “Why work feverously your whole life to be able to retire and relax, when you could enjoy your entire life that way in Jaco, Costa Rica. There are a lot of business opportunities here for young families, and Jaco is a great place to raise kids.
You can’t taste the food in a written restaurant review, so I can’t expect you to “feel” Jaco in my blog. You’ll just have to check it out for yourself. Make your travel plans, now! I’d be delighted to discuss all this stuff with you…in person. What are you waiting for?

Costa Rica boasts a pleasant climate, many protected environmental reserves, and a safe and stable political and economic state.
The cost of living is low and healthcare and dentistry are sometimes 50-70% lower than it is in the US and excellent in quality. Phone lines, cell phone services, Cable TV, High-Speed Internet and clean, drinkable water are available throughout the country, setting the premise for a comfortable lifestyle. With the ocean at your back door and all the technological amenities at your fingertips, Costa Rica is definitely the optimal combination between vacation ease and everyday life.
If you are considering the Beach then Jacó Beach and the Central Pacific are your best bet with friendly locals, good infrastructure, entertainment, fully titled beachfront property, residential developments, five-star hotels, luxury dining, golf courses, tennis courts, conference centers and marinas all within a hours drive to San Jose, the capital city.
Costa Rica has not been affected by the global financial crisis as profound as in other countries because if it’s historically conservative lending practices. However, there are many foreigners who own property here that have found themselves in financial trouble and need to sell at deeply discounted prices in order to get back on their feet again soon.

The Central Pacific has some new entertainment in town! Teatro Jaco opened their doors on December 20th with the musical adaptation of a Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. Local actors and actors from around the world joined forces to bring a holiday classic to Costa Rica.
Teatro Jaco has gotten off to a great start in its inaugural season and continues to bring quality performances with the second production, 17 Border Crossings. This internationally acclaimed production came to Teatro Jaco directly from Madrid, while on world tour. Jaco continues to grow and the new theatre is definitely a quality addition.
Teatro Jaco was founded by Darren Lee Cole, the co-owner of the SoHo Playhouse in NYC and producer of many theatrical productions worldwide. You can learn more about the theatre at www.teatrojaco.com

Healthcare in Costa Rica can be described in one word….world class! OK, that’s two words, but you get the idea. I’ve visited only two of Costa Rica’s many hospitals, Cima (pronounced see-ma) and Clinica Biblica in the center of the capital city of San Jose. Not only are facilities and staff as professional as anything in the states, but the caring personality of the doctors, nurses and support people is in the pura vida (pure life) spirit that IS Costa Rica. And procedures that would be thousands of dollars in the states…are hundreds here.
In Jaco Beach, we have several doctors, a couple of clinics and a host of pharmacies. We have 24-hour emergency response teams that are the equivalent of the best paramedic teams in the states.
But let’s back up for a minute: before you need medical attention, the general lifestyle in Costa Rica is healthier than lots of other places. Less stress, more fresh produce, less stress, cleaner air and less stress. Did I say “less stress”? My “high blood pressure” condition has become normal blood pressure here in Jaco. I believe that I’ll live longer here. We shall see………

Jaco Beach is located right in the middle of the central pacific and is full of great activities, including tours, must see sunset locations, surf and entertainment. If you want help booking tours then I would be glad to help you do so. Below is a list of the ones that I recommend.
· Villa Caletas: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This is a hotel about 15 north of Jaco where you can go to watch the sunset and get a drink. They built an amphitheater into the side of a cliff that overlooks all of the central pacific all the way to the Nicoya Peninsula. You are likely to see the most breathtaking sunset of your life and it’s free to visit. www.villacaletas.com
· Manuel Antonio National Park: About an hour south of Jaco, this national park is situated on beautiful white sand beaches where you are sure to see monkeys, sloths, and a variety of reptiles and birds such as toucans and scarlet macaws. A guide will help you make the most of your trip.
· Sport Fishing: The Marina in Los Suenos is a great place to book your deep fishing day trip. This area is know for it’s world class deep-sea fishing.
· Canopy Tour: Zip line through the jungles to platforms on the treetops.
· Crocodile Tour: Get up and close with huge crocodiles as your guide steps out of the boat and feeds them chicken right in front of you.
· Surf Lessons: Jaco is the perfect place to learn how to surf.
· Baby sea turtle tour: Help hatch the protected turtles and lead them to the ocean.
